Hi Guys,
i wanted to post up the progression of my TG SLX Gemini progect car.
I have previously built a G200 Gemini that was the love of my life but foolishly sold it many years ago.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hzcFA22fqDc

10 years later i decided to do it properly to get a good combernation of power and reliability.
i purchased this great lil Grandpa gem about 6 months ago from some people that were not using it. Unfortunatly they had left it under a tree for a while so i have some slight fade areas that i will have to deal with at some point. but apart from that it is in great condition.

As you can see its a good blank canvas to start with. At this stage the only cosmetic improvments that i think i will do to it are remove the stripes, 16" superlite wheels, lower it and touch up the paint here and there.

The beast has gone into the shop and had the engine pulled out and the SR20det package with all required is ready to be sat in the car for a dress rehearsal.

Package came with:

-SR20DET
-T25 (reconditioned)
-5speed
-ECU
-Loom
-Pumps etc
-Rebuilt extreme clutch kit (i had installed)

I did forget to mention earlier that my modest power output aim from the car is a lazy 150RWKW on 7psi running standard internals, aftermarket front mount and exhaust. should be pretty easy.

After the motor and gearbox where positioned in the car it suggested that we will not have modify much of the body or motor to get this project together. Hopfully we will only have to:

-modify the sump to clear the cross member
-customize the tail shaft
-convert to hydro clutch
-make a linkage set to get the gear shifter in a comfortable position.

unfortunately these shots where taken on iphone so the colours are a bit crazy. After sitting the engine inplace it looks as though the sump will only need a minor amount of fabrication. i will try to get some pics before they put it all together.

Stay tuned.

nice project mate. Love SR20's. 150rwkw,very posible but i would invest into a t28 from a R32. They have bigger rear housings than the s14 t28 and is a lot easier to get power out of. As for the diff. My misses pink gem has 134rwkw and the diff has been fine for the last 6 years. Good luck mate and keep us all updated with your project.

Hey mate I have seen the "lil gem" on here. Looks great. The t28 will be a definant plan for the future. Thanks for the info on the diff that was one of my major concerns. Is lil gem engineered?

Diff will be fine. Im putting 250rwkw though mine in the sr20 gem, and and that did bend the axels and the bar inside the torque tube a bit with a button clutch and locked diff, so I replaced the damaged bits, still have the locked diff, but have a hard-but-not-button clutch and so far so good. There are also LSD kits for that diff available now or soon on the front page of ozgemini. If your prepared to spend the money, thats probably worth it. They are $2k which includes stronger axels.

Nice project :)

hi all,

i just wanted to show you all the way my mechanic has modified my sump to fit like the sr20det was made for the gemini.

its just being leek tested then in it goes.

if any one has any advice on whether to use booster assisted brakes or non assisted let me know as there is no room for the standard booster let alone xb booster.
