I'm assuming that's a valve I see sitting on top of what used to be a piston?

That sucks balls mate.

:(

That is correct : (

Looks like I'm going 2.0lt pistons so the compression ratio might warrant the use of E85

OK so new motor specs are:

G180Z bored out to 2.0lt
-flat top, fly cut pistons
-Balanced bottom end + all reciprocating components
-Hastings Cast rings
-decked 030 (pistons above deck by 005)

Head G161Z pre pollution
-Ported inlet
-Polished chambers and de-shrouded valves
-oversize inlet and exhaust valves
-Head shaved 030 (min)
-Crow cam (mild grind)
-Alloy rocker arms
-Heavy duty valve springs
-Extractors 4-1
-Inlet (heavily ported & Portmatched)
-Carby 38/38DGMS
-New head bolts (head studs on the way for the next motor)

I'm just in the process of checking final piston valve clearances and the cam timing, then it shoud be all good to bolt it together.
Next is the Dyno and another track day...
Im probably going to lower the car by another 1.5" just to get it sitting better on the low profile tyres and bolt in the window net + a few other bits on the to do list and then maybe a IP race in the coming year... touching wood..

Car's coming along nicely!

Motor is all together ready to be dropped in the next couple of days : D
The only things left to do are the crank spigot bearing, flywheel and clutch and front pulley bolts. Im looking foward to hearing this thing fire up for the first time and going for that first drive, probably off to the dyno then a track day, Ill keep you all posted : D

-Bonus points for any custom bits pointed out !
