After all of this site promotion talk i think the very first thing that needs to be done is updating the site banner, i mean what picture does it paint about gemini owner if our banner is a gemi doing a fat skid (i mean i like it personally but i just dont think that in these times depicting ourselves as hoons isnt really going well).

i dont even think that we need a car up there or anything, i think the design needs to be unique and gemini orientated (OBVIOUSLY!!!). Im not really an ideas man when it comes to things like this i will brew on it over the next day or so and see what i can come up with. Any contribution will be appreciated.

I like the old "holdengemini.net" site banner. i think they had like 5 or 6 hot looking gemi's in a line as a night shot with there headlights on. Dont want to copy it but when i came across it looked great. also i just typed in Gemini car clubs to see what a gemini fan would fine if he was starting out. and the site it brought up had ozgem, hotgem, holdengemini.net, gemsofwa, nswgeminiclub,ISUZUtwincam club, but for SA it had our old Justgemsofsa on there and when i pushed on it, it did'nt take me through to our new GEMISA site. maybe we should update this?

If anyone wants to make a new banner, make it the same size as the existing one, make it as a transperent background png file, and post it up as a poll, and if after, say, a week the votes show majority want it, i'll put it up there. Personally I like burnouts, and dont really care what it makes the 'club' (if we are a club, but thats another story) look like. A graphic is one thing, dropping a burnout in hindley street is another (and not one were doing). I reckon it looks cool. :)

I'm with Tyla on this, and I know several others are as well. The thing is, even though we don't actually go out and do burnouts (anymore, I do know about the old wax pad days y'know...) the first page new users will generally see when they visit here is the index page, which means the first image they will see is Mooey's TE ripping a burnout which may or may not be on the street (I know it's taken from on a pad, but you can't tell either way without knowing him and the car).

I don't have anything against that stuff, even though it's not my cup of tea, and I certainly have nothing against Mooey or his car, but the fact of the matter is, it does promote the wrong image of the forum. I've asked people who aren't into gems to log onto the site and tell me what they think of the banner, and they all say it looks like we're a bunch of hoons!

Since we'll be in a reasonably photogenic location on the next cruise, we can do a wide shot (like Paul's photoshop above, which is very nice), of the cars all in a row to use as a new banner. If everyone feels comfortable with the idea we could also do a group shot of us together with the cars.

BTW, I have been reading the "site promotion" thread, but I haven't posted yet because I want to wait for everyone else to have their say (mine will be very long)...

Highly agree on banner needs an update (sorry mooey love the gem smokin it up)
We need to encourage younger members that the road is not a race track.
Unfortunatelt geminis havnt got the best name.
Although it looks like the is a few gemis getting ready for the track.
The track is the place to go out and have fun.
How cool would it be if we could have every member out in their gem and get a group shot for our banner?
Hence the offer to help promote the club

Pavlos, I dont mind putting your design up there, but you'll need to right click the current logo, 'save as...' to a file, and then use a tool to pick up the background orange then colour over the existing logo.. then make up a design to suit and post it back here. That way its the right size and the borders line up. The one above is too small, and although I could cut it out and scale it up, but but the stretching would make it look a bit average, so it'd be better to have an original that is the right size.
