Totes didn't think to put this up here, but story is I had my old blue panelvan for sale (with sticker on the back of the car) and while driving along one night, received a message from a girl...almost 6 years later we r getting married this december.

Had an engagement party in january this year and only saw it fitting to have the gem i was driving that night as the cake..

gem's in a bit a shambles in the moment, getting the dash re-moulded, and its getting increasingly harder to get permits for it :(
Ive got to get it to some form of driveable way before october as its going in Kingsleys wedding. So surely i can bring it along to something (permit permitting)

When u apply for a permit, u have a few boxes to tick..
-mechanical repairs
-event
-relocation
-other (please give description)
there are also a couple others but i cant remember what they are.

If i tick the 'event' box, they need proof. That is a like a flyer, cruise route or a piece of paper being the 'official' document of an upcoming cruise. I used to be able to flash a smile and get my way by mentioning the website here - then they would look it up to confirm. But they didn't let me last time and I had to docture a small cruise route of what a person here had mentioned of where we are going.
Then it also asks for what roads you will be taking. I usually put from *location a* to *location b*, "via all main roads".
They also tried to make me pay for 2 permits because at a maximum, they last for 3 days. The first day was a cruise, and then 2nd i was going somewhere for repairs. I laughed at them and in their words "they bent the rules". What a crock of shit, It doesn't matter where I drop the car off.
Increasingly frustrating, fear of getting denied and wether or not they are in a good mood that day determines if I get a permit usually.

For a larger cruise (example being the nissansilvia.com "drift pig13" annual cruise) wouldnt be a problem. But its hard to convince transport sa and their grumpy workers of a small gemini cruise. Hopefully that makes sense.

Yeah fair call, SA laws are getting more and more bullshit towards car enthusiasts. Unnecessarily constricting, putting in laws "because they can" not because they need to.

Anyway, why isn't it rego'd? Not engineered, or..?

Not rego'd because its not engineered,
its been getting progressively worse... how much does it make your blood boil when you see a nice skyline/silvia/import/old school/ whatver drive past with a defect sticker. I reckon half the traffic cops out there just pull over and defect cars just because they are a bright colour or have shiney wheel.
I've always been defected in a gemini when I've been pulled over. Never have I been let off with a warning. Its only since I've gotten a 'normal' car that now I don't panic when I see cops driving toward me.

its revenue raising, they defect the cars that ppl put money into sending them to regency, so they will spend money to put it back to normal, pay to get it through regency, then pay to put it back to the way they like it, just so cops can defect it again.

that's why there are so many old rusted heaps of crap on the road because cops are like well its either all they can afford, or they will scrap it n buy another bomb.
