Isuzu early bonnet badge - $80
Kadett C Grille - $250

ARP Head studs from Darren Hunter (Gemracing) - $250. For the one-day-soon forged G180Z.

Also indulged one of my other vices, and spent money on some new Anime for the first time in ages.

These came in the mail the other day. Very happy because I have had a pesky vacume leak that has been causing an intermittent poor idle. Sitting at the lights it will be idling fine and then all of a sudden it will drop and nearly die. Sometimes it will die completely.

If you don't know what these are, they are a bearing that fits on the throttle shaft to replace the bushing on a 32/36 weber. The bushings can wear over time and create a vacume leak. These bearings won't wear like the bushings do and also make the throttle silky smooth! 8-) I will let you know how they go once I fit them. They only cost me $20 a set plus postage.

Wreckers run report...

Two MINT TE chrome rear bumpers (with the rubber strip), at $31ea. I've stockpiled a few of these now, because I plan to drive my Geminis until I'm no longer physically capable, and these things are getting harder to find already. I don't want to baby my cars for fear of bending them - I want to enjoy them! So pretty stoked. I reckon I've got enough of these now, plus I saved them from the crusher at UPI!

An early auto centre console with the legend, T-bar and spring etc. This is for the grandpa TD, it's currently auto but missing all of the interior bits. I also have gear to make it manual, but since I have four Geminis to go fast, I think I'll go for the novelty and keep this auto!

LHS mirror in great condition. May be coerced to part with it at the right price.

Two of the chrome TE garnishes for between the taillights. I've killed one of these drifting so far, so it's nice to have a few spares!

Double posting here, I must be buying too much.

Twin 40mm Dellorto sidedraft carbs, in decent nick, to go with my adaptor plates for G***W (twincam). This way, pending a throttle linkage setup, I can slap these onto one of my twincams and just enjoy the motor, rather than worrying about going all out ITB EFI for the first start. $250, not bad!

just a suggestion - itb efi may look cool, but its actually inferior because its so hard to meter the air properly. most those setups either use the tps signal which is less accurate or have hoses from each that goes to a common plenum anyway, but because its smaller the metering from there is also worse as the reverbarations from the valves interfear. a more traditional well flowing plenum is better.

It feels good to be spending money on cars again :D

Cobra fixed back bucket seats - $320
SSR Mesh, 13x7 -9 (yes, NEGATIVE offset!) - $350 posted, but still on the way
Adjustable panhard rod - $100 posted
Rebuilt G180Z + 5 speed - $900
Early remote shifter console (overseas atm) - around $100 posted
Japanese style licence plates from Sleeka Spares - $60
A31 headlight switch and boss kit - $110
Drift School entry - $165

Also bought more Anime, and a few albums because I can't hook up an mp3 player in the Ceffy yet... lol

About $1000-worth of LOK15's bodykits, including:

ZZ/R style front apron (for my "rusty" TE project)
CDT style front lip (possibly for the drift Gem)
ZZ/R style bonnet vents (two pairs - "rusty" TE and the drift Gem!)
Late model fibreglass bumpers, made to resemble the hard plastic ("rusty" TE, front at least, if not all round)
Early model front lip, possibly for Indigo (my first Gem), I may cut down/modify it, not sure yet

I think that's the lot...

EDIT: Whoops, already posted this... I also bought some twin 40mm Dellorto sidedrafts - I already have plates to mount them to one of the G180W's, pending throttle linkages and a tune. I'm still planning on ITB EFI for the "rusty TE" but it'd be cool to have carbies there to get it going at least, plus I have a spare twincam I could drop into the early TX coupe with the twin carbs, and I think it'd even be technically legal!

So, does that mean you have two sets of Dellortos now Eli... :P

Forgot to mention this which arrived the other day. Bought it from a specialty bookshop in the states:

Image

It's about the illegal racing scene on the famous Mulholland DR canyon in the foothills of LA back in the 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s before the scene got shut down. It's also one of the earliest recorded examples of Touge racing (even though the Japanese are more well known for it, being that Touge is Japanese for mountain pass). Written in part by Chris Banning, who ruled the road during the 70s in a custom built Porsche 911 RSR widebody. He still lives on the road to this day, and only a few years ago the car was overhauled and brought out of the garage for the first time in decades.

Haven't actually had a chance to sit down and read it, but I already know that a second edition is being worked on by him and many more boy-racers from that era who are contributing their experiences and memories.
