So seeing as i had tech inspection last monday i had to get stuck into fixing the primered panel, i then had enough time to give it a quick wash and as it turns out i finished it about 20 minutes before i was due at the pub with mates sunday arvo so that was perfect

so with that done i was ready for tech inspection and on that topic, got a big tick of approval from the tech inspector so that means once all the paperwork gets processed and returned i have a valid tech inspection and can race!!!
8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-) 8-)

He did say that i needed to make the roll over 1 way valve vent to the outside of the boot, thats been completed with a simple bit of hose and a hole in the floor, also i need to secure the battery inside the box with a normal battery type of clamp so thats next on my list, but easy enough to do, and he said he trusts me to do them without needing to see the car again!

So with the tech inspection completed it was time to head to my mates workshop to get the car on his scales .... so race weight with driver (helmet and such) and full tank of fuel is 1085kg ... so other than the extra weight of fuel and bumpers etc which i didn't have last time i weighed it, the main difference is the battery is now in the boot.
It ends up giving me a front 55% rear 45% weight split and left 49.5% and right 50.5% (thats without me in it) it was nearly 58% front before the changes. side to side hasn't really changed though.

So very good result for today and hopefully within a few weeks i'll be ready to race ANDRA style!

i am planning to get stuck into painting the roll cage and some bits of the floor etc inside the car, but other than that shes good to go!

14.5 was my best time … Only got two runs … rained out – had a ball though, good to finally run it!

Hi Guys, been far too long since i've been here, thought you guys might like to see the lastest on the big girl :)

Since the last post (14.5) i have rebuilt the motor, more head work, bigger valves, more compression and a solid cam suited to racing, i've had it dynoed on methanol at 199.7hp at the wheels, its also running a tricked up v8 trimatic now with an ~2500rpm torque converter.

Over the last few weeks i have been helping my brother get the driveline out of his red vn v6 into the VS shell he has, so we finished that 4pm saturday arvo just in time for sunday at WSID.

The brother got a best of 13.5 with nitrous issues (pig rich) but all in all he was just happy to have a run after the last few weeks slogging it out in the shed!

Also had a mate with VZ Clubby, his first ever meeting at the drags, he did a best of 13.7 and i shaved a few hundreths off my 12.85 for a 12.81 hehehe

few vids from the day here:

gemini and clubsport - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vAdoVzAYJ2U

gemini and vs commodore - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NmRHSf09b08
in this video listen out for the comment about the ginger ninja, that was an sms from my brothers wife for him that they read out :)

was absolutely packed, 220 cars, apparently the competitor gates were closed about 40 minutes after they opened ... was a great day weather wise and i love the sunday option v's the wednesday nights!

i'm now in the process of putting a bigger torque converter in it and get back to the track to see if i can't get a bit closer to that 12.5 pass!!

thought i should update this :) been a while, was going to put LS1 in the gem but was going to be too much hard work and cost, so went for the cheaper option of turboing the 202 8-)

so far only been racing with it once, did a best of 12.43 @ 112mph on 8 psi boost, then put her up to 14psi and it felt ALOT better before i shifted into second and blew the transmission up hehe, luckily was a cheap easy fix so got that fixed and also changing a few other things and not sure when i'll get back to the track but 11's are the target :)

if anyone is interested theres some youtube fottage here http://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=UU ... eq0W0eKD0g the 2012-11-14 dated ones are with the turbo, and the 4th run is when the tranny blew.

Awesome stuff man! I might not be into drags or Holden engines, but it's so good to see a project come to fruition! :D

I like : )

- there is nothing wrong with sticking to your guns and doing a engine that is slightly odd ball, just look at the 9 second G180s thar run in the eastern states. I would prefer to Learn, break and built something a little different than buy a LS1 and order go fast bits from a cataloge.
