Started the sanding and cutting of rust over the last few days. First area will be the lower A pillars. I also need to replace the passenger side doors, as they have more rust and will require more work.
All going well, I should get some good doors and set up the MIG this weekend to get some practice in.

I was also fortunate enough to find the new owner of the Tanunda car a few days ago, and he's agreed to give me the paint code so I will be able to get the blanks mixed up in a week or two. That knocks off the one thing about the respray I was concerned about, that I would have to search for ages to find out the code and get the exact colour I wanted :)

I've been steadily working away at getting the shell straight over the past week. Hopefully the long weekend should get me pretty well to the point of applying primer. Just need those passenger side doors (have some lined up), and a few more materials to finish the job. Thankfully the body is pretty much perfect apart from one or two minor imperfections. A bit of spot putty and filler will clean those up though :)

Also, I've been thinking about it, and as much as I want to have both, it looks as though I will have to go without aircon when I transfer all the bits over. I know it doesn't seem like a big loss, but I haven't owned one with a working setup yet, and having that + a turbo would have been perfect. Perhaps in the future I can figure out a way to make both work in the same car... maybe...

More updates coming very soon guys :D

Already starting to cut it fine by the looks of things.

The first panel is primed! However it was the bootlid and required nothing more than a quick sand. I think I might have to stop being so fussy if this is going to be done in time :(

Got the doors off, and some good passenger side ones, so those and the bonnet are next, then the guards which I've pulled off the green car and given a quick sand. They need a bit of filler here and there, but rust free which is the main thing.

Also got quite a few bits over the last few weeks:

Rebushed upper and lower arms with fresh balljoints from Elky - $160
Good steering rack bushes, also from Elky - $20
VRS gasket kit and sump gasket to suit 4FB1 - $300
Factory red headlining and door trims from UPI on the weekend - $73. One of the trim backings is destroyed, and there is a reasonable sized tear in the headlining, but I can work with them.
Passenger side doors - $50

Total - $1733

6 weeks left, so I'm going to be pretty much guns blazing to get this thing in colour by the end of the month.
