Absolutely fucked the paint on the rims. Least they are a bit black on the gold but it was a VERY quick job so the gold didnt stick out and attract the police for having different rims on the back for skiidzzzz brooo. Also blackened out the front grille, just need to use black boot polish on the bumpers to make it fit in more.

Few pics from the cruise. Haven't been doing much at the moment to the car, just trying to get it to run properly with the headlights on haha. Got electronic ignition coming from Chris and some other little bits and pieces to go in soon and hopefully those bloody GTi seats that are sitting in the shed still

-engine covered in oil (oil cap wasnt on properly after topping up this arvo oops) and sprayed oil over the entire engine bay and leaky front crank seal.
-worn tread on inner front right tire. I think its fine though lol
-drivers seatbelt slightly worn.

Could have been worse but they werent pricks about it. said they loved the car a few times and just to fix those bits and it would be a real nice car.
Have a HEAP of things that need fixing before it goes to regency, so thinking of getting another Gemini and fixing this later then selling it on.

How did it happen that your vehicle was inspected? Were you randomly pulled over for no reason or were going through a breathalyser at the time or something? Seems rather unfair given how it looks and how some other cars getting around look..

I've been talked into keeping this lol. Plans are for it to be done by my birthday in Feb next year. Going to be pushing it haha.

Few pics of how it stands now, sorry if they are a bit big:

Early plans so far are:

Body
-Closed-door respray in the original colour. Door jams etc are in decent condish
-Shaved locks and aerial
-Bumpers neatened and painted
-Install and paint late model mirrors
-15" cop rims painted black with chrome dress rings
-May consider original badges

Engine
-Engine bay sprayed black.
-Engine painted silver
-Rocker cover and fan cover and other bits and pieces pained in the body colour
-Chrome accesories here and there
-No idea on engine specs yet. Thinking of a 4ZC1T or run a SC14 charger or a 4ZE1 with either twin carbs or forced induction of some kind. May even just turbo a G-series. Keen to keep it Isuzu.

Interior
-Retrim roof lining, a/b/c pillars, dash, consoles. Going to go for a moderny look without the wank factor
-Swift GTi seats
-New seatbelts
-New sound system as the current lot will go into my daily.

Suspension
-Unsure yet.

Going to write up a massive list so I can cross shit off as I do it. Im currently reading up on engineering a 4z series, I dont want to build something that wont see the road. I read somewhere that its hard to engineer a 2.6 turbo under the new rules?

Any input appreciated :)

Ahh man that sucks about the defect!

It might not be too hard to get it through. If you get some new generic seat belts, make sure all the lights and the horn works, the fan/vents on the front window works, the tyres have good amounts of tread, the seats are solid when they rock them and its clean and your friendly and if the stars are in alignment that day...

I wouldnt put swift seats in it untill after its cleared as being non standard that might open a can of worms. Good luck!
