Track day was yesterday, got there quite late to putting lots of time in to my mates 240z track car but got a few laps in, and as it was the end of the day had the track to myself for a lap or two before a boostworx car joined me. I let him past as Im still trying to find my line out there and use him as a pace setter 'till my brake booster failed! Car needs some work - pan hard rod to move the back end across a little as tyres are rubbing, steering wheel is 90 degrees out for some reason, i wanna put a big red brakes active light on the dash for the video cam, put some extra ventilation on the brakes as the dot 5.1 fluid didnt boil this time, but heat in the boosted might have been part of why it failed.

Track rubber was fantatic, can see I put the power down in front of the spectator area and it fishtailed on the first lap but after tyres warmed up it can now get the power down and stay straight :) Really happy with the camera mounting too. High def video came out sweet :) I was picking up about a second per lap and was getting in to it by the time the brakes failed, so looking forward to next time.

Recommended to view at 720p or 1080p (HD resolution)

Am using the vid to check my lap times and critiqe my driving as the car has more in it and is driver limited!

SR20Gem vs Skyline GTR (highlight from session #2) :)

Car is handling supurbly with the new suspension, weakest link is still the cornering. Ran 32psi tyre pressure and it stuck better than last time, but will swap the upper wishbones to gain some castor and see how that helps for next time.

To convert to a five stud pattern on a gemini diff is very easy, if you can't work it out from this write up I would suggest buying a Hyundai with 5 years free servicing.

Find a VN/R/S COMMODORE, remove the disc brake assembly, and axles.

Get the VN/VR/VS axles shortened and re-splined to match a gemini centre.

Install the whole lot into a gemini diff with (new vl axle bearings).
Ta da.... disc brake rear with 5 stud COMMODORE pattern.

You will need to modify the handbrake mechanism and change the brake proportion valve.

Ahh, i knew I had resplined commo axels in mine, but didnt know if you could do it with unmodified wrecker parts. Looks like its gotta cost a couple of hundred.

if you want a bigger diff centre you can put a 25 spline sailsbury vk centre in it just to make it that little bit stronger. but you need to put the gemini gears on it and put the gemini bearings on it. gemini are only 23 spline or something so it is alittle bit stronger. or if you have a mill and a welder you can make a 28 spline locked centre that bolts in with no mods to the housing.

Huge thanks to turbocoupe75 for giving me the heads up that the cage to these specs needed to be log booked by the end of 2011. Just made it!
